A fixture in the region since 1969, African Lion Safari has hosted millions of visitors and served as a home to countless creatures, big and small. Known as a fantastic place to experience animals in a natural setting, the park’s mission is to entertain and educate its guests while protecting exotic and endangered species in a safe habitat.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature declared 2015 as the Year of the Gibbon and African Lion Safari has 19 species of Gibbons and Siamangs, all considered threatened or endangered. It’s also a great year for elephants as there are three baby Asian elephants currently calling African Lion Safari home. Hannah (born in October 2014), Gigi (born in February 2015) and Anna May (born in May 2015) are curious, playful and always exploring! Guests can meet them daily at the Look-Out.
Other highlights at African Lion Safari include Misumu Bay waterpark for the kiddies, interactive shows, a petting zoo, African Queen boat rides, Nature Boy Scenic Railways and more than 10 tasty stops for everything from pizza, popcorn and pretzels to footlong hot dogs, funnel cakes and frozen yogurt. There is something for everyone.
